A Good Death

July 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

Join us for a respectful session on thinking ahead to one’s end-of-life goals and how to prepare.

Cheryl Mawo, death doula (and HAP board member), will talk about practical steps to take now to ease the burden on
your family when you pass. This includes what updated information your executrix should have at hand, who to
notify, and how to leave your wishes clear. Having a will is essential, but there is much more that is helpful for
those sorting through the aftermath of the loss of a loved one.

Lily Buerkle, mortician, will present on the full range of body disposition options: traditional burial, cremation,
green burial, and body donation to science. She will walk through the pros and cons of each and preview the
Green Death Care Options Act of 2024.

Dixcy Bosley-Smith, geriatric care manager and nurse practitioner with 25 years in hospice and an end of life
activist, will address comfort care choices, how and when to make the best use of hospice, what families wish they
had known, and how to advocate for the kind of death someone wants.
