The Village Movement: Advocating for & Expanding Villages in the Region

On September 23, 2023, Corridor Conversations hosted an informative session on Maryland’s plans for expanding Villages in the state with a particular focus on what’s happening in Prince George’s County. On the panel were Montgomery County Villages Coordinator Pazit Aviv, Aging in Place Prince George’s Working Group Coordinator Christal Batey, and Liz Woodward and Chelsea Wheeler from the Maryland Department of Aging. Despite some technical difficulties caused by Tropical Storm Ophelia, the session also included input from the five Villages currently in Prince George’s. The panel discussed what’s being done to grow the Village model in the state and county, as well as about how we can all work together to build a strong, supporting community for ourselves and our neighbors as we age.

Corridor Conversations are organized by Hyattsville Aging in Place, Neighbors Helping Neighbors College Park, Helping Hands University Park, and Explorations on Aging.
