On November 18, 2023, The Desks Project‘s founder and CEO, Chikondi Kulemeka, and COO Andrew Kulemeka joined Corridor Conversations to discuss their College Park-based non-profit that works with local carpenters in Malawi to build desks for schools. The project has completed desks for two schools and is working on desks for a third. Providing these desks is showing improvement in test scores for students, more consistent attendance, and more girls staying in school longer.
Corridor Conversations are organized by Hyattsville Aging in Place, Neighbors Helping Neighbors College Park, Helping Hands University Park, and Explorations on Aging.
